Collateralized short-term loan request
Dear Sir,
I am a Christian who is considering converting to Islam after speaking to an Islamic leader in the Philippines who himself was a Christian who converted to Islam. I am already defending Islam on internet discussion forums from attacks on Islam by its enemies.
I am a US-based private investor with an account at the Irish futures exchange Intrade (www.intrade.com). My equity in the account is approximately $300,000. I have taken positions in my account on margin in excess of $950,000. This month, the exchange completely eliminated margin financing which it had provided during previous months. I believe that the need for this drastic increase in margin requirements has no basis in terms of market volatility, because I have reason to believe that market volatility will actually be lower in October than September.
Therefore, I must either deposit an additional $650,000 or liquidate sufficient positions by the end of this week in order to make the margin call. Because I would like to hold onto my positions for an additional month or two, I am interested in finding a lender or consortium of lenders who would lend the money required to meet the margin call. The money would be deposited directly into my account at Intrade, and in order to collateralize the loan I would execute a confession of judgment. This would mean that the exchange would have no legal right to release any of the funds in the account to me unless the judgment was first satisfied by repaying the loan. I would also be willing to grant a mortgage on my personal residence to the lender.
Basically, what the lender would do is lend me the same amount of money that the exchange had loaned to me earlier this year. Although the exchange did not charge any interest on its loan, naturally I would be prepared to either pay a reasonable rate of interest (are Muslims allowed to charge interest to non-Muslims?) or 60 percent of the profits that would be generated by the loan.
In terms of the assets that make up my account, the most significant positions in my account include being long approximately 28,000 Hillary Clinton Democratic nomination winner contracts, and short approximately 84,000 Al Gore Democratic nomination and presidency winner contracts. I have taken my short Gore positions based on what I consider to be information that may be construed by some as insider information that Al Gore will not run for president. However, the Intrade exchange is not regulated and therefore exempt from insider trading rules. If you are interested, I could discuss this insider information with you in more detail.
