Islamic banking and insurance is regarded as one of the fastest growing areas of modern international finance, and the potential for this exciting market is only just being realised. Over recent years the sector has grown rapidly and it is projected to make huge strides in years to come.

This three-day course will provide participants with an in-depth understanding of Islamic insurance (Takaful) and the issues at play in the sector. The course will examine the nature of Takaful, illustrating how and why it differs from both conventional insurance and mutual or co-operative funds.

The course will analyse the nature of the Takaful contract, legal issues and structures involved, as well as the legal and accounting concerns in the treatment of funds and profit/losses. The course will consider the nature and the size of the industry today and where scope for growth lies. Participants will gain an understanding of both the challenges and the opportunities that arise in Islamic insurance and the course is suited to those who are focused on becoming involved in this rising sector.
