We are looking for venture capital funding to start an innovative telecommunication service. We are willing to go into partnership or short term investment. The business will pay back between 3-6 months of operation.
we need $3 million dollar for the implementation and operation of the business.
First of all, I would like to give you a little picture of the telecommunication industry in Nigeria, so you know what we are going to achieve.
You can search the net to understand better about telecommunication infrastructure in Nigeria.
The National carrier is called NITEL, which was supposed to have been providing PSTN lines to Nigerian since the creation of Nigeria. But because of corruption, most of the fund meant for the national carrier was misused. That is why nitel has only a customer base of about 700,000, of which only about 400,000 lines are working today.
Then came the CDMA companies that were given licenses to only operate in certain states. Their market hold all over Nigeria is about 1.2 million subscribers.
Then 5/6 years ago gsm licenses were given to 4 gsm providers at the cost of $285m each. These companies are Mtel (NITEL), MTN (from South Africa) and Vmobile formally Econet NG.
Lastly came the license awarded to GlobalCom for the second national carrier. They also operate GSM network.
Now the gsm has a customer base of more than 18 million subscribers. Everybody carries at least more that 2 gsm phone and at least 1 CDMA wireless phone.
This is because :
1. Bad network Reception nearly everywhere.
2. Lines are regularly congested
3. Phones are lost easily
4. Call failure
5. Some have high Tariffs when calling other networks
6. Sometimes it is hard to make a call from one network to another. It is easier to make calls on the same network.
Now we don’t want to enter the communication industry to compete with anyone. That is why we are looking at providing the follow me call (number hunting service), to enhance the quality of telecom services to mobile and fixed phone users Nigeria.
We need to reach at least 1m customers to start with. We are planning on getting a number block from the NCC (www.ncc.gov.ng), which is the regulatory body for telecom in Nigeria. We will provide a system like YAC based in London (www.yac.com), We will be in one location and reach out to all network providers in Nigeria.
Our services to the customers will start like this:
1. Register with us either by phone or web, by purchasing a voucher at the cost of 1000 NAIRA each and using it as payment. The number allocated to the customer is either read over the phone to the customer or sent to an email inbox.
There will be a monthly line rental charge of 500 NAIRA to the customers for each number. What we will provide for the subscribers will be to have them register at least 5 numbers which will be hunted when someone calls our number. That will be for personal use. For companies, we will give them at least 20 numbers to hunt.
Our service when called will look for the LCR and route the call. We will also get an agreement with the National carrier to host our service and pay us additional commission on calls routed through there network.
We are looking for a way to be a part of the communication business in Nigeria without putting up the same infrastructure as the telecom companies, but instead use their own system and make just as much as them.
Also our location will be in one city. We don’t need to be putting up equipment all over the country.
thank you.

below is a little bit of info on follow me call service.
1. What is Follow Me?
With Follow-Me call management, the caller dials a single number and can get in touch with you no matter where you are or what device you're using (home phone or mobile phone). The system tries all registered numbers configured into the system by the subscriber. Also included is a Call Screening system, which allows you to hear who is calling before you decide to accept the call.
2. Who pays for the toll charges for follow-me calls?
The caller pays for the service. The only funds paid by the follow me subscriber is for the out right purchase of the follow me phone number and the monthly line rental payments.
3. How do I setup or change Follow Me?
A follow-me rule can be setup or changed via our company web access at or via the telephone user interface.
Phone Number to be sold in the first 3 months: 1,000,000
Each Phone Number sold at =N=1000 each
Phone Number Monthly Rental=N=500 each
Additional Revenue: We will also get Commission from Hosting Carrier for traffic directed through our Phone Numbers.
We will sell well over 1 million Numbers in the first 3 months of operation.
141=N= (NAIRA) to $1 USD
so in 3 months we will make $10,638,298 from phone line rental alone.
also on the sale of phone numbers, they will be a revenue of $7,092,198 in the first 3 months.
our calculation is based on 1,000,000 phone lines.
the addition revenue from the national carrier is not included in the above calculations.
