I am presently seeking a business partner to start a company based on my invention (U.S. Provisional Patent Application Ser. No. 61/372,137, filed August 10, 2010) of a non-surgical treatment for cataracts.
According to a recent study by a major consulting firm there are 87 million people in the US suffering from early cataracts as compared to 1.25 million people getting cataract surgeries every year. Of this population, 38 million have been diagnosed (having visited either an Ophthalmologist or Optometrist due to declining vision). Of these, 29 million have been diagnosed with nuclear cataracts. This cataract forms in the nucleus, the center of the lens, and is due to natural aging changes. Based on a conservative 15% market penetration of the 29 million US patient population, the consulting firm estimated that a pharmaceutical drug could generate more than $1 billion annually in the US domestic market, and the revenue would approximately double for worldwide forecasts.
Capital Needed for Partnership:
$50,000- Half of inventor's expenses (including time) over the last five years.
$10,000- Half of future patent application filings (USPTO & PCT).
$5,000- Half of future trademark registrations and corporate filings.
