Assalamu alaikum,
Muslim Venture Capitalists needed. I do have an idea of creating a website that would send out sms/email to people informing of Athan times. Knowing the prayer times in Muslim countries is not a problem even the telcos offer such kind of services, however this kind of service would be really useful to the muslims who are living in non-muslim countries (in the west). If you are interested in this idea I could tell you more about it.
The service could have free and paid versions depending on the service features.
I am well versed in Web Design & Development and have many successfull personal projects. This idea however is a big project and would need a new IT Startup or at least several freelance programmers. If we startup a company then we could also work on many other Islamic projects (I have many ideas). I am based in KL (Malaysia), and currently doing my MBA. Let's discuss.

Very interesting, this idea sounds excellent however does not seem like it would need more than a few developers. All you would need to use is a database and your own website and a form for visitors to fill out on which timetable (city) and have it send them automatically.
However if you had more ideas than you could recruit more developers. Personally I like the idea but am not sure if an email for adhan times would be very handy as people are mostly used to times, also SMS may work but could be costly for receiving depending on phone plans. Perhaps an Islamic Calendar that would email out Islamic events on their respective days might be better. This is what I planned on doing for my personal website (family/friends site, free & non commercial, yet under construction currently)
Out of curiosity, what other Islamic ideas/projects did you have?

The idea is realistic and can be done. The problem is just the rule of athan time itself. As we know that athan time are slightly different every day depend on the sun position right? The different is about only 2 minutes everyday but it should still be count. Provide me with the rules of athan time. I help you to finish the Application. InsyaAllah i can help u developing in many platform, such as Internet pop up, sms, auto email, even stand alone program running on mobile device like cellphone, PDA.
